Last updated: April 4, 2019

What Does Social Ecology Mean?

Social ecology is a social theory that suggests the need to alter social, political and economic trends in order to create harmonious societies. In these harmonious societies scarcity and hierarchy will not govern behaviour and humanity will be able to live in harmony with the natural world, enjoying equality creativity and freedom.

They observe that society, community and relationships impact on individuals and create circumstances that may foster or prevent violence. The CDC examined possible socio-ecological causative factors of violence and suggests strategies to address these.
