A safety project manager is a manager who is responsible for the site safety of an assigned project. This individual is the focal point of all safety related issues in the project and usually reports to the project manager.

Safety project manager is the key person related to the safety issues in a project. He is generally responsible for the following:

  • Providing expertise knowledge, implement company safety standards and programs

  • Assessing health and environment safety risks in the project

  • Providing safety education and training to the project employees

  • Recognizing hazards and prepare safety hazard avoidance planning

  • Carrying out site safety inspections and audits

  • Conducting or assisting incident investigations

  • Providing internal customer service to the project management

  • Environmental safety standards
