Definition - What does Air Purifier mean?

Air purifiers are devices that have been devised in order to limit the health risks associated with breathing contaminated air. They may consist of simple respirators that provide protection against lower concentrations of particulate pollutants to more complex systems that can be fitted to HVAC or AHU systems in order to ensure that contaminants are filtered out before air is recirculated.

Safeopedia explains Air Purifier

Protecting workers from exposure to pollutants is an important consideration in health and safety management. In enclosed work spaces, the recirculation of contaminated air allows for a build-up of contaminants that may pose a health risk to employees. Depending on the nature and context of the pollutants, specific, building-wide air purification systems may be necessary in order to maintain indoor air quality within acceptable parameters. Air purifiers may deal with particulate pollution only, or consist of more sophisticated filtration devices that remove chemical contaminants and odours
