What Does
Upcycle Mean?
Upcycling is the process of converting an old or unwanted product into a new product. Upcycling differs from recycling in that it does not involve breaking down a product into it’s base materials. Rather, it involves refashioning an existing product by maneuvering it’s parts or adding additional parts to it.
Safeopedia Explains Upcycle
Upcycling has become a popular way to extend the life of a product. Yet, the concept is by no means a new one. During the Great Depression of the 1930’s, when people had very little means, upcycling was a necessary means of getting by. In fact, products would be upcycled over and over again, until they were no longer useful. Upcycling is both economically and environmentally friendly.
