Instrumental Value Mean?
Instrumental values are a part of a values definition created by social psychologist Milton Rokeach and published in his 1973 book, The Nature of Human Values. He defined instrumental values as those which are specific modes of behavior. They are not an end goal, but provide a means by which an end goal is accomplished. Character traits and personal characteristics make up most of the instrumental values.

Rokeach makes a distinction between values that are end states of our existence and those that are instrumental values. He called end values ‘terminal’ values. This is, what you ultimately want to accomplish. Rokeach made a list of the key instrumental values, which included being ambitious, broadminded, capable, cheerful, courageous, helpful and forgiving.
