What Does
Flame Arrester Mean?
A flame arrester is a device that forces a flame through a channel that's too small to allow it burn, thus extinguishing it. Flame arresters are used to stop the spread of fire, limit the impact of an explosive event or confine a fire. They are commonly used on fuel storage tanks, fuel gas pipelines, storage cabinets for flammable materials and the exhaust systems on internal combustion engines.
A flame arrester may also be known as a deflagration arrester or a flame trap.
