Safeopedia explains Healthcare
Healthcare access varies from country to country. In some countries, such as New Zealand, public hospital services are provided free of charge. This includes ambulance transport and other emergency services. In other countries, however, people have to pay hefty fees for hospitalization and emergency treatment. In the United States, apart from Hawaii, there is no legal obligation for employers to provide healthcare benefits for their employees.
Healthcare is divided into three levels of care:
- Primary: First point of intervention
- Secondary: Short term, acute care
- Tertiary: Specialized consultative care
