What Does Job Hazard Analysis Mean?

Job hazard analysis (JHA) is a part of risk assessment in which the hazards that come along with a certain job or workplace are identified and, ideally, mitigated, before they occur. In this way, hazards can be eliminiated or at least reduced to an acceptable level of risk.

Job hazard analysis may also be known as job safety analysis.

Safeopedia Explains Job Hazard Analysis

In job hazard analysis, the prime focus is given to the job tasks. In this case, the whole relationship between the worker, the work he or she performing, the environment in which in which the work is being performed and the tools that are used is taken into consideration. This task is usually performed by a supervisor, but the entire staff should be involved. Generally, the jobs that have the most risk or that have already produced accidents are analyzed first, followed by new jobs or tasks that involve new equipment, chemicals or procedures.
