Competent Person Mean?
A competent person is an OSHA phrase used to refer to a person who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees. A competent person also has authorization to take prompt corrective action to eliminate present hazards.

He or she also has the authority to correct that hazard. Certain standards add specific requirements, which must be met by the competent person.
