The RTECS Number is the identification number assigned by the U.S. Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances. RTECS stands for Register of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances. The registry was formerly maintained by the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The registry is now maintained by the private company Symyx technologies. A subscription fee must now be paid to access the database.
