A certified ergonomics assessment specialist (CEAS) performs a workplace ergonomics analysis with the aid of OSHA assessment tools. The task of the CEAS is the identification of potential workplace hazards related to work station and equipment design, layout and use in an effort to reduce the number of workplace injuries and promote workplace safety.

Qualification and certification as an ergonomics assessment specialist requires attendance of training and the submission of two successful ergonomics analysis reports. Full time training workshops are usually two day courses, but online options exist that can be completed in 90 days. A CEAS may qualify to work in the industrial office workplace or healthcare sectors and is qualified to recognize factors that could contribute to musculoskeletal disorders and to propose cost effective solutions that will help to reduce injuries and improve overall productivity. The CEAS must be able to apply the OSHA job site analysis form and apply problem solving skills in order to make practical recommendations.
