Bio

Bowtie Engineering is a premier world class engineering firm, networking to large national accounts contributing to significant improvements in human behavior and adoption of a systems approach to safety.


Led by Mr. Welch a PE, MBA, EE, CEM, CDSM and licensed electrician, which is seasoned in electrical engineering, systems engineering, lean process tools and systems approach to environmental health and safety. Bowtie is headquartered in Atlanta Georgia, with satellite locations in Houston and Detroit.


Prior to on-boarding Bowtie Engineering, Mr. Welch was the National Operations and Engineering Manager & Southeast General Manager, for M.C. Dean, Inc.


M.C. Dean is the nation’s 2nd largest electrical engineering design and construction firms in the country with 34 offices. Its southeastern regional headquarters is in Suwanee Georgia employing 180 employees.


Mr. Welch headed up O&M on a national level and had over 200 employees spread between Washington and Miami in Top Secret Classified Facilities. Mr. Welch also led the electrical engineering and power quality systems integration services for the Southeast. He supported and instilled process into a world class team of engineers in the most critical operations in the region that include, Intelligence Community in UT, Delta Airlines, CBRE, Verizon, Georgia Power, Chevron Energy, Veteran’s Medical Center, and the U.S. Department of Defense. His programs supported complex and sophisticated technology applications that include consumer data, life safety and national security. Core competencies are power quality, device coordination and Arcflash studies. He has authored many papers on risk mitigation regarding Electrical Safety and reducing faults on systems.


Prior to joining M.C. Dean, Inc., Mr. Welch was Technical Product Manager with DTE Energy a Detroit based Electric Utility, providing business case development and engineering for green renewable energy plants using low BTU gas from dairy farms, waste water treatment plants. He was also accountable for the interconnection and logistics with paralleling technologies with the grid. Prior to this role, Mr. Welch held a Senior Electrical Engineer for DTE Energy responsible for the system wide safety, operating SMC customers on the 13.2kV-345kV and code compliance engineering.


Mr. Welch is a PE, holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Operations and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, he is a licensed electrician and credentialed in NFPA 70E. Mr. Welch is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and AEE advocating safer design and construction for systems sustainability, and renewable energy.
