Business Profile:Emergent Safety Supply (ESS) is a distributor of safety and janitorial supplies. ESS was established in 1985 and purchased by Mary Porter in 2011. Over the last 5 years, ESS has evolved from a local/regional distributor into a national distributor. WBE and WBENC certification was approved in 2012 and 2016 respectively. Our vision reflects our passion to expand into new industries, grow business through acquisitions, and deepen our customer relationships through our WBE and WBENC certifications.

ESS is headquartered in a 30,000 sq. ft. facility in Batavia, Il. ESS’s strong partnerships with our vendors/suppliers allow us to secure special pricing to remain competitive. Supply Chain integration is important in our ability to streamline processes from vendor to customer. We stock a wide variety of products based on customer usage and ship same day. ESS believes developing strong business relationships with our customers and vendors, coupled with service innovation processes which set us apart from distribution order takers.

Our leading brands include; 3M, Honeywell, DuPont, Capital Safety, Master Lock, MSA, MCR, Kimberly Clark, Ergodyne, Tingley, Cordova, Lakeland, Sellstrom, Accuform, Showa Best Glove, and many more. Our product offerings include; safety supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), hand protection, hearing protection, eyewear, prescription eyewear, head protection, ergonomics, first aid, fall protection, gas monitors, signage, roofing and construction, janitorial products, AEDs, and more. Our strength is our ability to proactively recognize industry needs/requirements and implement programs that benefit our customer base. Our ESS team has a customer-centric focus that drives our passion to exceed customer expectations. Customer satisfaction is a priority that resonates through all business activities. Our team stays abreast of safety changes and new products through continuous interactions with OSHA representatives, vendors, trade groups, and industry associations. We understand the world of safety is constantly changing therefore; we need to stay current in government regulations and associated industry impact. ESS staff members are trained and certified in fall protection, confined space, and OSHA regulations. Continuous education and learning is a requirement of our environment. We are committed to helping our customers with all safety needs and have partnered with training consultants to offer OSHA certification. Many of our customers refer ESS to other companies based on our proven track record of diligence, collaboration, flexibility, innovation and willingness to listen to suggestions for improvement.

Environmentally-Conscious:

ESS has made many environmentally-conscious decisions within our office and personal lives. A recycling program was implemented to reduce our carbon footprint. We have reduced costs by working smarter and minimizing impact on the Earth and waste systems. Developing a paperless environment is one of our organizational goals; therefore conserving the amount of paper printed saves unnecessary destruction of our trees. Creating a safer workplace and better health and hygiene is the key to sustainability and health.

Recognition:

In the three short years of new ownership, ESS has earned a gold status membership with SMG [our safety trade group]. SMG membership includes other distributors as well as large vendors such as 3M, Honeywell, Accuform, Cordova, PIP, Kimberly Clark and many more.The greatest recognition comes from our customer referral program which validates our commitment to “walk the walk not just talk the talk.”
